Nestled between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia, the Gulf Islands are a true natural gem that provide visitors with a plethora of outdoor activities and stunning scenery. Whether it's swimming or fishing in the protected waters or exploring the underwater treasures while scuba diving, the Gulf Islands have something for everyone. The Gulf Islands National Park Reserve is a breathtaking ecological paradise with 15 islands, small islets, and reef areas. The forested Gulf Islands, including Salt Spring, Mayne, Galiano, Hornby, and Gabriola, are renowned for their locavore-minded farmers, artisan producers, and organic vineyards. Along with nature, wildlife, and coastal activities, the Gulf Islands are an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the daily grind and a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
The VREB region we call the Islands, is comprised of the single VREB district Gulf Islands, which includes the islands of the Salish Sea located in the County of Victoria. We sub-divide this area into 9 individual island neighbourhoods: Galiano; Mayne; Moresby; Pender; Piers; Prevost; Salt Spring; Saturna; Sidney; and Gulf Islands Other.
